I needed a pickup for my 1959 Gibson LG2 but wanted something as unobtrusive and reversible as possible. I have LR Baggs Anthem systems in my other two acoustics but didn’t want an under saddle pickup on the vintage instrument. After discussion with Walter and Ryan (and some online research) I decided on the Hi Fi system.
I am very happy with the result. The pickup is perhaps less true to the unamplified tone of the guitar than the Anthem but it is close enough and seems fairly resistant to feedback although I haven’t yet tried it in a live performance. There is a lot of bass response available and the tone control is useable across its entire range making it not only great for fingerpicking which is this guitar’s forte, but also for strumming which means I can leave the J200 at home and use the LG for everything!
The controls do sit out in the soundhole a little further than I would have liked but the black colour does make them less visible than the cream of the Anthem.
All in all I’m very happy with the new system and look forward to trying it out at a gig in the near future.
Battery pack came loose after two days.
Not fixed yet so dont nknow hown good or bad it is!
Excellent pick up for excellent reproduction of a hand built guitar's idiosyncratic sonic output. Top notch!
