Capacitors & Resistors

Capacitors & Resistors

The capacitor in your tone circuit has more influence over your guitar's character than almost any other passive component. Whether you're chasing vintage warmth, modern clarity, or a specific era of tone, choosing the right cap — and the right value — makes a genuine difference. We stock a carefully selected range of capacitors used in classic and contemporary guitar and bass wiring, from everyday ceramic discs to sought-after NOS vintage components.

By Type

  • Sprague Orange Drop — the industry benchmark for modern tone circuits. Available in 0.022uF (humbuckers) and 0.047uF (single coils); polypropylene construction, high voltage rated, consistent and reliable
  • Mallory (USA Made) — smooth, musical response with classic tonal character. Available in 0.022uF and 0.047uF; a favourite for vintage-correct Fender-style builds
  • Mustard Capacitors (Mullard/Philips Replica) — Film-to-Oil Alu/PE design replicating the 60s–70s caps used in famous British amps and guitars. Available in 0.022uF, 0.033uF, 0.047uF, 0.068uF, and 0.100uF
  • Vintage PIO (Paper In Oil) — Soviet Aviation Grade NOS — genuine new old stock components in 0.033uF, standard and waxed versions. Highly regarded for vintage tone and feel
  • Sprague Orange Drop NOS 0.027uF — vintage new old stock, circa 1970s, made in Germany, ±10% tolerance
  • Elpac 0.047uF — Vintage Fender Type — vintage-style cap reminiscent of classic Fender amplifier components
  • SEC Ceramic Disc 0.022uF — Gibson-style ceramic disc caps as found in factory Les Paul wiring
  • Standard Ceramic Disc Capacitors — 0.022uF and multi-layer options for general wiring, repairs, and DIY builds

Common Values & Where They're Used

  • 0.022uF — humbuckers (Les Paul, SG, 335, ES-style guitars)
  • 0.047uF — single coils (Stratocaster, Telecaster, Fender basses)
  • 0.033uF — vintage spec and intermediate tonal voicing
  • 0.027uF — vintage 335 and similar thinline builds

Also Available

  • Treble Bleed Kit (Pre-Wired) — fits across the volume pot lugs to retain high-end clarity as you roll back the volume. A simple but effective mod for any passive guitar
